They were perfect during the ceremony and walking down the isle. She surprised us! Someone heard Ian toot during the ceremony, though he denies it. I'm talking about Ian and Lily, not the bride and groom. :)

White Christmas!

We were in Iowa for Christmas day after spending some days in Springfield with Rob's family. Cold but fun for Ian and Lily to play in the snow. Lily was turning red and shaking from the cold but refused to come inside....we had to drag her in crying.

I've always wanted to make sketchbooks. So I searched it on You Tube to see if I could find out how. I did.


She makes it really easy to do. I've made some adjustments to make it easier for me...but I loved doing this. I made a journal for Rob.







I was pretty excited with how it turned out, so I made a "baby book" for a friend a.k.a. blog stalker. I don't have a picture of it...but it was pretty cute.

So, you should try it. It's fun. Let me in on any ideas, suggestions or anything.

Our Thanksgiving Rocked!

I mean that...we have gone the last few years to our good friends family's house for Thanksgiving. This year our other friend...or I should say (as Ian says every time we see him at church) "my friend", Stuart, played a little Led Zeppelin for us and a little of his own original work. He was quite impressive and I could tell has many hours of practice put in on the guitar. We are welcomed year after year to this sweet family's house and this year it was very anticipated, coming from a difficult couple of weeks. It was nice to sit and be around these loving people that show Christ's love and spirit, not just today, but always. Ian was in heaven running and sweating like a madman with the thousand grandkids. Lily wasn't feeling well, but enjoyed sitting with mom and dad and listening to the music...they both enjoyed the cranberry sauce.

So, here is Ian's first love note. It was in his folder coming home today. She is a very skilled artist and I love her sentence structuring. Very unique. (I'm not even going to post one of Ian's pictures, not near as impressive) Lindsay, the author's mother, told me that she writes them to him frequently, but this was the first I've seen in person. Ian says he has more in his cubby at school. So....how long can preschool love's last? If you look at the links....it's been a little longer than I thought. Conversation example of the other day....

Mom: So what would you name another baby?

Ian: I want to have 10 girl babies and 10 boy babies.

Mom: hmmm....(not happening) I'll let your wife know that.

Ian: You mean Tatum? (the love of his 4.5 year old life)

Mom: ......yea, I guess.

Halloween from Grandma and Grandpa!

We got a box of candy from Rob's parents on Halloween. They were very excited and Lily went for the chocolate. She had also gotten into some markers and fell off a skeeball machine earlier that day. (Rough day) Ian didn't care for his worm burger...but liked the thought of it.

This David is a little big on the aggressive and violent side. He also took his job of protecting his sheep seriously. I believe I heard his staff shoot lasers also.

Atlanta Aquarium

Good times! I went with my brother to see Dolly Parton and the next morning we got up and took the kids and my nephew, Griffin, to the Atlanta Aquarium. We all had a good time. Here are a few of my favorite pictures. Here are the rest. My brother's new pit bull puppy, Sophia, is also in these pictures. I tried to bring her home...but couldn't get her past John or Rob.

There were conversations like...

Ian: You know why they are called Jellyfish?
Griff: why?
Ian: They make jelly.
Griff: I don't think so.
Ian: yeah, they do.

or

Griff: Can an octopus grow large enough to capsize a boat?
Volunteer: No, not that big.
Griff: To damage one?
Volunteer: No.
Griff: Man. (disappointed)

or

Griff: That alligator is going to eat you or lily
Ian: huh? Can that alligator eat a man?
Volunteer: Probably not.
Ian: Alligators can bite peoples arms off.
Me: (walk off and let the volunteer deal with them)

I asked for it.

Mom: Ian, great job eating your quesadilla. I didn't know you'd eat the whole thing!
Ian: Yeah, I knew it, because I have a BIG tummy! I can eat a lot of stuff.
Mom: ......do I have a big tummy?
Ian: No, you don't.
Mom: (feeling good about my sweet son and myself)
Ian: But you do have a big uterus.
Mom: ...
